Pittsburgh- A do, don't and done list for Autumn

Do
Do pay a visit to the Parks here.  Schenly is the best for running with a stroller.  Frick is the prettiest and best for biking.
Do go to Mount Washington- at night.  The view is awesome.
Do check out the libraries.  They rock.  You can actually get books that you want to read!
Do go for a drive outside of the 'burgh to check out the fall foliage.  Ohiopyle is incredible right now.
Do get used to all the crazy Steelers fans.  It is not abnormal to see a yellow and black hand painted car.  Or house.  Or dog.  (Maybe that one would be a little weird...but not mind blowing with these weirdos around)

Don't
Don't worry about the speed limit.  It really doesn't matter here.
Don't ever buy a low rider.  2 words- Pot Holes.
Don't ever think it is too early to put out your Halloween decorations.  Or too late to take them down.
Don't miss the guy's house down the street from me- he goes all out for Halloween.  Last year he grew a corn field in his front yard, just for Dia de los Muertos!
Don't miss the Perogies running the field at PNC park during the 7th inning stretch.  Its pretty great.
Don't expect customer service.  ANYWHERE.
Don't forget that Page Dairy Mart and other fabulous ice cream shops will re-open in the Spring.

Done
I am SOOOO done with the cloudy days.
I am done with the stink bugs.
I am done with road construction.
I am done decorating Brooke's room! (finally!)
I am done with loosing my way around this crazy town.  I can now get everywhere most places without a GPS.

Brooke gets teeth. But the wrong ones.

Hi! I'm Brooke.  This is normal.  6 months.  Lower Central Insicors

This. Is. Not. Normal.  And I have a tooth to match on the other side!  Don't worry, mommy has a great Halloween costume for me!

Other Thoughts:
Everyone keeps telling me they will grow up fast. Sometimes I don't believe them. And sometimes I look back and can't believe how fast time really does pass. I know I will probably forget things too. My parents do. (love you mom!) But I really enjoy Peter and Brookie being little. They are so much fun. Bedtime is always a good time at our house. Mostly because they are going to bed. Just kidding. But I want to remember the things Peter and Brooke do that just melt my heart. Or make me laugh. Or stress me out. :)Here are a few things:

Bedtime stories with daddy. (Look! Brooke is finally sitting!)

Peter loves his sister.

And she loves him! She won't pay attention to anything else if he is in the room.
I love her baby fine hair. And the Mohawks I give kids after bath time.

Because someday they won't let me touch them. Let alone their hair.

Next: Peter Gets a Big Boy Bed.
The story:  No big deal.  We gave the crib to Brooke and told Peter if he got out of his bed he would have to sleep in the pack n play.  It took 1 nap in the PackNPlay and he has been an angel ever since.  The problem is now getting him out of bed.

I asked Bryan to go check on him because he was taking a REALLY long nap.  After disappearing for almost 30 min, I came upstairs and found him like this...

 Random Pictures I like...

Peter also has problems saying things with the letter 'S' if it is next to a consonant at the beginning of a word.

For example:
He loves going to Costco because he gets a 'piley' face drawn on the receipt on the way out.

He also was running around the house today saying "Don't pank me!" (I don't know what he was talking about...)

He always asks for me to "quish" his peanut butter into the jelly when I make him a sandwich.

He also loves to read the "criptures".

And when I tell him he is goofy he says, "No I'm not! I'm a boy!"

Peter is ALWAYS trying to give her a hug!

He woke up at 6:00 am this morning. I went in and told him it was too early to wake up. He got back in bed and I told him he could get up when the sun came out. He went back to sleep until 9.

Final thought:
We are working on potty training. No success yet. But someday I will figure it out.

I love my Nike Running Chip

I got one of those awesome pedometer thingy's for my shoe that connects with my IPod.  Its my favorite piece of technology.  Hands down.  Its probably the only one I really ever use.
I am proud to say that since June of 2009 I have now ran 700 miles.  Thank you nike/apple for motivating me.  And Bryan for buying it for me.  You guys rock.  Here is to 1400 miles....someday...

Dress Up Challenge. Week 1

I was asked, "What is the point?"

The point is to get to wear something you aren't wearing. I would be willing to bet there are some really cute things in that closet of yours that need to come out.

And if I am wrong...

Then you need to go shopping. And that is never a bad thing.

P.S. Week 1 down. It was fun to actually plan out what I was wearing for the week. I'm excited to do it again this week. I only had 1 shirt I wasn't too thrilled about wearing. Not too bad eh?
